Club News - Group Study Exchange Visit

September 2006

East met West when members, their ladies and guests from Yatton, Wrigton Vale and Weston Rotary clubs gathered to meet the visiting group study exchange team from Japan and West Woodspring Rotary's exchange student from Los Angeles, Jax Partlow.

Jax told how she was settling in to attending Churchill Community School and highlighted the differences she had found between the British and American education systems. She will also be traveling to Germany on the Hildesheim exchange visit.

The Japanese team was led by Rotarian Kazuhide Yamamoto, who introducted the members of his team; Miss Mihoko Kimura, Miss Yukari Namura and Miss Yoshimi Tsukamoto.

Each of them gave a short presentation, assisted by Powerpoint to overcome the obvious language difficulty although it has to be siad their English was far better than our Japanese, about the area where they live and what they hoped to learn from their visit to England and Rotary District 1200.
